Those who have met James know that he is a musician from the inside out. There is not a day that goes by that he's not practicing or composing music and there is not a night that goes by that he does not fall asleep to music or without his guitar. "I decided when I was 16 years old that I would dedicate my life to music as a way to find myself and fulfill my god given potential. Whether rich or poor, whether dead or alive I will be a musician."
He was born into a world of hard rock and metal, listening to what his dad would play through their gigantic sound system. The heavy distorted guitars lended itself well to all of the action sports he grew up doing like surfing, snowboarding, and motocross racing. They jammed to bands like Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Slipnot, and Rammstein to pursue being champions at the sports they loved.
As James grew into a young adult, he fell in love with blues and hard rock. He studied and played the music of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. During high school, 16 year old James was attending "Hollywood Recording Workshop" a private music engineering school that took place at Jasmine Sounds in San Clemente California where he got protools certified and mixed songs that hit the radio. At this time he got chained to his first musical instrument, a Gibson 1973 cherry red bass guitar he found off eBay. "I felt after 4 years of playing that Gibson all day every day I needed something new to express my musicality with. All it took was one night of listening to Yngwie Malmsteen's "Far Beyond the Sun" to switch to guitar and devote my life to it."
In 2016 James was accepted into the film scoring program at Berklee College of Music where he crafted his skills as a composer, orchestra arranger, conductor, sound editor, and sound designer. He was also mentored by Joe Stump - The great neoclassical guitar shredder of the last 4 decades who inspired James to release his own Neo classical shred album "Opus No.1 - Axe Of The Underworld".
Rising to the top of his class and achieving multiple scholarships and grants, James pursued outside work and has become the new kid on the block in the international film world.
